3rd battery installed

This morning, after 3 years 3 months of faithful service, the battery dies. Tell tale marks: the side mirrors refuse to swing out and car won't start. Shukur Alhamduillah, this is a blessing because wifey wants to use the car to go outstation for the weekend. Only 3 tools were required: my customized wheel nut opener, long nose pliers and No. 10 spanner plus the User Manual as I forgot how to detach the positive terminal which is really easy if one is familiar with. The positive terminal could be open by hand but needs a long nose pliers to close it back together. The negative terminal required the No. 10 spanner. As you can see from the photo when I put the new battery in, the end of the wheel nut opener perfectly locks the safety latch at the base of the battery. The replacement Hitachi dry battery cost RM395 with GST then the old battery was traded-in. Advice: Fortunately, when I installed the new battery, the car keys were in my pocket because the moment the circuit was closed, it locked the car. The last thing to do is to reset the blinking date, day and time which is configured via the personalized setting in the central console monitor. Time and time again, I have proven over many years and on different cars I've own that direct charging from the alternator to positive battery terminal dramatically extends the life of the battery by 300%.

Busy on 2016 New Year's day

2016 goodwill gesture for my 407: the first rubbing compound polish since the car was bought in 2011. After a while, urban dirt sticks so hard onto the paint, no amount of normal polishing will get rid of it and I had to resort to using rubbing compound polish to get rid of it but am satisfied with the result although much elbow grease was involved. Photos unedited.
