Dungun and back

This is the second time we traveled to Dungun in the 407, the other time wifey drove, this time it was me. We both averaged about 140kph on the highway and about 80kph on the coastal road. The 400km journey was a smooth drive for a car as heavy as a 2000cc 407. Twice, we achieved a half a tank usage of petrol and when I compared notes with Peugeot service centre technicians and the man on the street, the general opinion is that that is good fuel consumption. However, I was a bit surprised on the way back I managed to get a more frugal ride... just a few mm before half a tank's consumption.

Did a day trip to bring back our son and all his stuff since UiTM does not have a place where students can leave them during the term break. We traveled at an average of 120kph on the highway and 70kph on the coastal road since we have time on our side and rats... the pinch for recent speeding tickets still hurts. This time, to and fro, from a full tank we only used 3/8 of the petrol which I feel is very good fuel consumption. At that speed, driving the Peugeot 407 was really enjoyable because it shows the 407's character as a superb grand tourer ... smooth and comfy.

Underneath a Peugeot 407

Since the car was being serviced, I asked permission and took the opportunity to snap a few shots of how things are underneath the 407. The engine bay had a cover at the bottom so I had to wait for that to be removed before I could take some snapshots. Looking at the complete exhaust system, I could see they were using quality material which looked really solid. Other snapshots underneath the Peugeot can be found here and here.

Peugeot Glenmarie centre

I sent the 407 for her second service and made my first official visit to the new Peugeot sales/service centre at Glenmarie, Shah Alam which is really much better than their former place, many lots away from this site. I have to say I am impressed. The service entrance is from the back and the showroom entrance is what you see here. Send the car for a normal service based on an appointment at 8:30 am, expect the car to be ready and washed no earlier than 11:30am. After reading today's  newspaper and some mags, rather than waste time and wait at the service lounge, I would take a cup (or 2) of coffee and free peanut biscuits then walk my way to the lift and visit their showroom and Peugeot La Boutique (which is worth a visit). The things they sell there are not cheap but then it's a boutique. You can only find such items sold only there so in that case, it should be OK.  I like the showroom, it's spacious but from my personal experience, sales representatives here cannot really answer my technical questions but their knowledge of sales matters is good. What they lack is an internet computer or wi-fi facility. To me, these small things mean a lot. The place can handle a maximum of 60 cars per day but presently handle an average of 30 cars per day due to lack of technicians which I am told they are currently recruiting.
